Tarot & Kabbalah
Please note that this diagram uses the termonology of the Thoth Tarot by Aleister Crowley and Lady Frieda Harris. If you are using a Ryder-Waite style of deck, you must make the following conversions:
Important Aspects to Remember
The three cards that form the creative process:
Empress = Knowledge + Desire
Lust/Strength = Intent or Will (Decision)
Tower = Action or Effort
The three pillars represent:
Right Pillar = Individualism / Individual Power / Individual Control / Autonomy / Innovation / Fast Time / Future / Solitude / Taking / Lack of Sensitivity / Confidence / Arrogance / Anarchy etc.
Think in terms of "me"
Left Pillar = Group Energy / Society / Lack of Individual Control / Lack of Individual Power / Surrender / Giving / Compassion / Over Sensitivity / Slow Time / Past / Victim / Commitment etc.
Think in terms of "them"
Center Pillar = Necessity / Agreement / Divine Will / Greater Good / Timely Manner
Think in terms of "us"
The four suits:
Wands = Self / Internal Growth / Ability / Reputation / Personal Attitude
Cups = Environment / External / Relationships / Opportunities
Swords = Actions / Events / Experiences
Disks = Results / Accomplishments
Notes:
The Center Pillar is the pillar of "objectivity", whereas the two outside pillars tend to be more subjective by nature.
The higher up on the "Tree" a card, the more changable it is. The lower down a card, the more manifest and therefore unchangable it becomes. The same is true with the suits. The Cups and Wands will be more changable than the Swords, and likewise the Swords will be quicker to change (less stable) than the Disks.
When reading the minor cards, associate the greater importance to the number of the card as opposed to the suit. Allow the suit to further explain the number. For example:
4 = Confidence
4 of Wands = Confidence in Self
4 of Cups = Confidence in Situation
4 of Swords = Confidence based upon Events
4 of Disks = Confidence based upon Results
